BONUS READING:

In Lehman’s Terms is a series of author rants and raves on various money related topics.
They are located
throughout the book. Here's the first one:

In Lehman’s Terms:
I LOST IT ALL… SO NOW I’M A FINANCIAL EXPERT?

This is not to be confused with “rags to riches” stories which are always great to hear, but there are also plenty of stories about the “I made it all, I lost it all, and I made it all again” types of “millionaires”. We all seem to thrive on a good “I was an underdog” story.

Those who have “lost it all and made it all again” seem to have cemented themselves into the urban myth of being credible financial experts because they’ve been to the dark side financially. This makes for great reading in personal finance books and magazines, but this wouldn’t necessarily impress the frugal millionaires who have continued to grow their net worth and have never lost it all.

Aren’t the millionaires who have kept and grown their net worth the ones you really want to learn from? If you had it all and lost it all you probably never had a very good hold on it to begin with, or you would have protected it and grown it, right? Right! Think of it this way: Would you want a doctor doing brain surgery on you who’s last patient got an “accidental” lobotomy and later died?
